    Dear Cows,
The film project we are working on was shoot with the RED camera 2k size.

The challenge is that we need to create the graphics, considering is a low budget film and we have modest equipment, Macpros.

We will be using Photoshop CS3, Aftereffects CS3, and motion.

The question is what will be the right method?
Create the graphics on a 1080P size? (lower file size)
What will be the right aspect-ratio?
    Are Proxies a good option?

    Best,

It will depend on how it was shot, but most Red footage is 2:1. So your comp size should be 2048×1024 @ 23.976. I know the general consensus is to stay use 2:1, especially in FCP as 16:9 isn’t supported (I believe). Do not use 1080p. The aspect will probably be wrong as well as sizing.

By proxies, are you referring to the Quicktime proxies from the Red camera, or proxies within After Effects? Assuming you’re talking about the former, I would only use the QT proxies as a reference for composing. Are you planning on grading the film in AE, or just doing graphics there?

Also, take a look at the Red forums at reduser.net. You will probably find many of the answers there.
