I tried to use an AVI file as a layer in PI, but keep getting the message: AVI request format error. The AVI file is 720×576 PAL DV, and i’m trying do make someone dissapear the StarTrek-way with transporter effect. I already made something with a green background and then used Chromakey in Premiere, but it kind of affected the colours in the original movie. Help me out, Toni.

Unfortunately particleIllusion for Windows (both 3.0 and SE) does not
support DV AVI files directly at this time. That means that you need to
    either:

    1) Install a standalone DV codec such as the Mainconcept DV codec or the
Panasonic DV codec. Do a websearch for “Panasonic DV codec” and you’ll find
several sites that have that free codec with instructions for installing.

    2) Convert your DV AVIs into a non-DV format such as DivX or uncompressed
AVI. This conversion would have to be done with another application. I’ve
checked into Rad Video Tools (https://www.radgametools.com), and it’s
perfect. Converts between several different formats, but the important thing
here is it will convert your DV AVI to another AVI format. It’s free.
