Activity Forums Boris FX Particle Illusion falling ashes

Thanks for a WONDERFUL software, I am having a great time learning it. However my current project requires a flag to catch on fire and I have achieved that beautifully with one of the flame emitters, but the thing that would really sell the effect is if the bottom part of the flag is slowly falling off it like ashes drifting away in the wind.

I have experimented with a snowfall emitter, but I just can’t change the color of the snow to grey and black (I’m a newbie). Could someone help me find an ash-emitter or inform me how to change the color of the snow? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Regards, Michael Nilsson, Sweden

The easiest way to change the snow from white to grey or black is using the tint color. First, select ‘tint strength’ in the hierarcy, and set it to 50% or so. Then open the properties dialog for the emitter and click the tint color box, then select black. You can then adjust the tint strength to get the level of black you want.
