    SOS all you Illusion Whizzkids,

I need to create the illusion (ha!) of blowing sand from right to left at right angles to the direciton of sight. The idea is to create a wild sandstorm which partially obscures a desert scene. Once created, I’ll composite the PacticleIlliusion file with the background, in After Effects.

I really have tried and searched the standard emitter libraries, but I’m afraid I’m too thick to see how to do this.

    Any assistance gratefully received.

    regards

There are a couple of Snowstorm libraries in the November 2003 library that would probably work well as a sandstorm. You’d really just have to change the colours in the particle types to a sandy colour, adjust the Emission Angle so that the particles are going side to side rather than diagnolly, and crank up the Motion Randomness, to make the storm more chaotic.
