I am super frustrated with after effects right now. I am trying to sync my animations with my music, but when I click the RAM preview I cannot hear the music. I tried a wav and a aiff file and both do not work. Under the RAM preview options the sound IS on as well as in the composition time line. It is very strange because when I hold control and scrub through my comp i can hear the music. Also, when I click RAM preview i see the green bar bouncing up and down, but still no sound. I checked out my file and they Wavelengths show up. I have tried hitting period on the number pad and nothing works unless I render out the whole project. I also tried the sound effect ‘tone’ and it works fine when I hit RAM preview. If anyone knows what is going on please let me know.

    Thanks

If no audio in any comps preview it may be the settings in preview preferences. Its possible that the preview time is set to 0.

I checked the audio preview and it is not set to zero. It is set to 0:00:08:00 base 30. Any other ideas?

I’ve had the same problem as yours, not having audio in RAM preview. Spent most of the morning fiddling and finally fixed it!

Try changing your Audio Hardware settings inside Preferences to “System Default Input/Output”. (mine was “Built-In Line Output” initially).

This solved my problem, hope it solves yours as well.
