  Shadows

  Hi, I’m new to PI and love the software. Anyway, is there any way (hopefully easy)to add shadows to the emitters. Example: A shadow on the wall from a flickering candle, and faster movement shadows, striking a match etc. ?

  The only way I can think of to create a shadow would be to duplicate your emitter, position it where you want the shadow to be, then use the Tint Color and Tint Strength graph to blacken the “shadow” emitter, and lower the Visibility. Then depending on the angle the shadow should be at, you could use the Angle property to tilt it the right way.

  Thanks, I messed around a bit doing what you suggested, it got me real close to what I’m looking for, but I think it would probably take frame by frame painting to get believable shadows. I never realized how many variables there are in creating a shadow..thanks for the fast reply, I’ll keep experimenting.

  Hey Steve!

  What i would recommend is to export it to After Effects and put a drop shadow on it and tweak from there. Works wonders..
