Unknown closed caption format
Hello,
I got a closed caption file that I need to convert to SRT in order to burn it into image with Final Cut Pro X. The issue is, I don’t know this file structure and I can’t open it in any subtitle editor.
Structure looks like this:——————-

Any clues as to how to convert this into SRT? Many thanks! -

Only as plain text. I give up and will probably copy/paste in NLE by hand. Thanks for the tip though, that looks like a superb subtitler.

I don’t get it. It IS plain text, isn’t it?
If you need to do a ‘save as’, that will be two mouse clicks…Send me the file and I’ll have a look.

What I need is to convert it to .srt in order to bring it into NLE to hardcode into the video (I really don’t want to do copy/paste and time it manually in the NLE). For that, I need to know what the source format is. It’s apparently some kind of CC format used by a broadcaster (it’s SIMILAR to SRT but different) but what I got only has a .txt extension.

It is NOT similar to SRT.
Srt has milliseconds instead of frames, is tab delimited, has no duration and some more stuff.This has TC in / out and duration, followed by the text. Probably this was outputted for proof reading / spellcheck. (That did not happen, as I found some mistakes I believe ☺
I’ve converted the file to SRT, assuming 25 fps speed.

I added a new text parser to Subbits, wasn’t that difficult.
(Note, it is not available in the public version yet, if you need to do tons more, let me know.)Bouke

I don’t at the moment, but I’ve added Subbits to my Tools list and I’ll probably buy it down the line. Thanks again!

If this is still an issue you should reach out to Closed Caption Creator (https://www.closedcaptioncreator). They’ll add the format to their list of supported formats to do the conversion to SRT for you.
