Waveform/Vectorscope for SDI Signal
Posted by Larry Zapotocky on October 10, 2014 at 8:38 pmHello,
I’m trying to narrow down my research for an SDI Waveform/Vectorscope and signal generator for our new studio. I’ve looked at Harris, Tektronix and some others.
Any suggestions on what would be a good studio solution?
Thanks

October 14, 2014 at 1:35 pmI use a Leader LV7330 rasterizer in our remote truck. Works well and is a bit less expensive than the others. Otherwise Tektronix and Harris all make good products. It just depends on your budget and your needs.

Do you have it connected SDI to a monitor or DVI to a computer monitor?
thanks,

October 14, 2014 at 9:33 pmThe display is DVI out to a computer monitor. The input is HD-SDI or SDI with an A/B input.

https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/21/864648But in summary, with the Blackmagic Ultrascopes, I don’t like the inability to get a large view of at least one view (say, the Parade) as this is important in Color Grading.
I like my Harris VTM for this reason – ability to get large views and therefore, see great detail. But I don’t like that it doesn’t accept presets so you can load industry standards into it. That may be different on newer models; I don’t know.
And with some Tektronix models, I find there’s too much information at times. But they have lots of plusses. And a great history.
Neil.
