    Hi folks,

I have an HDCAM-SR deck and a Panasonic D5-HD deck. I need to do a clone of an HDCAM tape which is formatted 1080/29.97PsF. I need to bounce over to D5 and bounce back to HDCAM. The SR deck will play this out at 1080/29.97PsF, but the D5 has no setting for that. The D5 does have 1080/59.94i however. Theoretically, can’t I do this:

    HDCAM playback @ 1080/29.97PsF
    into
    D5-HD recorder @ 1080/59.94i

    and then

    D5-HD playback @ 1080/59.94i
    into
    HDCAM recorder @ 1080/29.97PsF

I would think the interlacing would be captured properly and then when played back, the fields would remain the same. Am I wrong in thinking this way? Isn’t PsF really interlaced on tape anyway? The tests I’ve done look identical on both decks, but I figured I’d ask since somebody here is bound to have more knowledge than I on this subject.
