I need to add tri-level sync to my studio. I currently have Sigma TSG-490 signal generator that has a tri-level sync built in. I need to feed more sources than it has outputs.

My question is, can I send the same tri-level sync signal to all of the components in the studio, if they are HD and SD? For example, I need to send tri-level sync to a Kona 3 breakout box, but I also need “standard” black burst for an analog monitor. If I were to feed a tri-level sync signal into a DA (like this one: https://www.kramerelectronics.com/indexes/item.asp?desc=656) can I feed them both off of it? Or would I need 2 DAs, one feeding all of the tri-level components and one feeding all of the SD components?

    Thanks-

You are actually working with two standards so you would need a DA to feed each standard. We use Tri-level for our HDCam and D5 VTRs and HD Production Control Room and black composite for our SD equipment. We have separate DAs for each.

I just read Bob Zelin’s article about the AJA Gen10, which will output 6 NTSC or PAL signals and 2 Tri-level sync outputs at the same time!! for $390!!
