  • Freezing Frames after Rendering

after i render my comp and try to view it through quicktime or inside after effects, it keeps freezing in the middle and won’t show the whole movie. but when i drag the slider manually, i can see that it contains all the frames. it just won’t play right in real time..
any idea why this is happening?
i just upgraded my QT to 7.5.5 right now to but made no difference.
    please help..

    thanks

it’s most likely due to the file’s data rate being too high for your drive read in realtime…

if you rendered your file to lossless animation quicktime or uncompressed avi, the data rate will usually be quite high, so you may not be able to play them back in realtime. these types of codecs are intermediate codecs, meaning they are used to go between pieces of software to avoid losing quality at those intermediate steps. realtime playback is not a concern at those points since only the final step will need to be played back in realtime.

so, if you have an uncompressed or losslessly compressed file now, what is your final destination… dvd, streaming web media, edited in with other footage in an nle, etc…?
