I am starting a project tonight that has the following requirements as stated by the client:

“Within the context of the game, the sequence will be 16:9 (letterboxed for display on 4:3 moniters) There is a reasonable likelihood that we will want to repurpose this for use outside of the game so we should keep this in mind moving forward.”

Knowing this was going to be displayed as a widescreen video, I started a comp in after effects using the preset “NTSC DV Widescreen”, but it displays the “lock aspect ratio to” area as 3:2, and the “frame aspect ratio” as 9:5.

What am I doing wrong? How can I achieve 16:9? What dimensions should I be using for my comp?
