  Possible to get a 16:9 output from 1440×1080 footage?

  My understanding is the fix for the 4:3 sq pixel issue is to paste the whole thing into a Final Cur Pro 1920×1080 seq, and render it up. I did that and then output it in a 16:9 ratio (528×297), but it’s still squished. Tried both “preserving aspect ratio” option and not during output and it made no difference.

  I’ve exhausted all online forums to no avail. Anyone know?

  Your video should contain information in it that lets decoders know that the video is anamorphic. Either the software you are using to play it back does not respect that information, or the source file has been altered or never had that info in it to begin with for some reason.

  If you re-encode it with ffmpeg you can specify the 16:9 display aspect ratio, or even scale it up to 1920×1080 of you want.
