    Hi,

I have lots of video with quality audio in the left channel only and distortion in the right channel. I would like to be able to us the left channel audio only when converting. using ac1 converts to mono but this includes the distortion. Is there a way to replicate the “fill left” functionality you get in some video editing applications so that the left channel audio is replicated in both channels in the converted video?

    Thanks,

    Simon

If it is one stereo “stream” it is not currently possible.

If there are two discrete mono “streams”, it is possible with the map command.

To find out which you have, perform an input read and post the results. (eg. ffmpeg -i yourfile.mp4)

    Hi Michael,

looks like audio is in one stereo stream at the moment so sounds like it might not be possible? Shame because the info is definitely there and editing apps such as premiere can perform this task. Any alternatives that will look at channels in a stereo stream?

Thanks a lot for the input,

    Si
