    I have a question…

I’m a DIT, with the bulk of my duties involving QC and media management. I am looking for a hardware solution, to encoding about an hours worth of either .mp4 or AVC-HD footage that comes off an SDXC ii card to ProRes HQ 422. All I have been able to find are either field recorders, or conversion boxes, involving an SDI and live conversion. What I am looking for is an item hopefully not too large, that can accept a jump drive or an SD card (I can do with anything really) that will transcode to ProRes, so that I can keep the transcoding (and the down time that follows) to a minimum. The idea being that I can pass on the footage I receive at the end of the day, transcoded quickly; without bogging my system down, or getting in the way of my other tasks.

    Thanks,
    Gabe
