  • Compressing down to a certain size – Apple Compressor

I need to submit some work and they are limiting work to be no larger than 300mb. One of my videos is just over 400mb and I have another one that is 1gb. I use a Youtube preset with my Matrox MX02 box when I post anything to youtube. It does an excellent job of compressing. I just need to know what I need to do to get my files smaller so I won’t go over there 300mb size limit. I am thinking I am going to have to play with the settings within the preset that I use. Just not sure which one will reduce the size of the video.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions you may have!

File Size = Bitrate x Duration

If you need to reduce file size from 400MB to 300MB, reduce the bitrate to 300/400 = 75% of the current rate. If the resulting quality is unsatisfactory, consider reducing the image resolution (from 1920×1080 to 1600×900, or from 1280×720 to 1024×576, for example).
