I ran a file through Compressor to change the codec from H.264 to Apple ProRes; I did it once with the regular ProRes codec and once with the ProRes HQ. Even though the outputs had the same exact dimensions as the original, the file size for the HQ output was more than twenty times bigger (the file size for the regular ProRes output was much smaller, which was expected).

Does anyone know why it comes out so much larger in file size using the HQ codec? The compression was not meant to change anything other than the codec. Thank you!
