  Compressing Video and Leaving Audio high sample rate

  I’ve got to make some DVD files to play on media player.
  I’m about to start some experiments but I have a few questions about the compression and any expert suggestions might really point me in the right direction…

  It’s a special situation

  I’m making a multi-channel audio kiosk, I’m feeding the hdmi out from the media-player into a surround encoder, to a multichannel amplifier and to the speakers. I really don’t need any video content at all, but I think I need to fool the player in order to feed surround audio through it’s HDMI out.
  AND
  the media player only recognizes FAT32 formatted thumb drives so I’m limited to a 4GB file. It’s not the most robust piece of gear, but it’s in my budget.

  Here’s what I’m going to try.
  I’m pretty sure Compressor can keep my audio at full resolution in the AC3 files while compressing video at the same time.
  Will super-compressed video cause any problems with playback?

  I’m planning on laying out my audio stems in FCPx along with a track of black SD video. If the video tracks don’t have any color information will they be smaller?
