I shot footage using the DVCPROHD 720p-24p format. I set my sequence in FInal Cut Pro properly and now want to compress through Apple’s Compressor. My client wants an SD digital format. Any suggestions as to what codec to use? They want to be able to upload it into Kaltura and embed the video into webpage.

    Thank you
    Mark

SD for web delivery only, not a master?
    No further compression?
    H.264 .mp4 854×480 (16×9 SD square pixel) or 640×360 maybe.

Thanks! Yes, I will compress a master file here. I am thinking the dvcpro720p/24p setting from Compressor for the master encoding?

For master just export in timeline codec in FCP7 or ProRes in FCPX
It’s possible that if they’re on Windows they may not be able to handle DVCProHD .mov so you may decide to just use ProRes (Playback is cross platform).

854 wouldn’t work for SD if it’s square pixel, 720,400(408) is max for that. Or did you mean anamorphic?
