  • Getting Proper Aspect Ratio in Compressor 4

Posted by Bob Bernet on February 14, 2012 at 12:06 pm

I have completed a 16×9 anamorphic project in FCP, but when I load it into Compressor, it is 4×3 in the viewer. It plays back properly in QT and the dimensions are 853×480. It even shows up in the Compressor source window (with the arrow) in the proper aspect ratio. It is slightly over two hours in length and I need to compress the file in order to fit it to DVD. Is there a solution to this aspect ratio problem?

This is normal. Your file’s encoded bounds are 720×480. When you drop the DVD encoding preset on it, as long as the preset is set to Aspect Ratio: 16×9, it will encode how you expect.
