  No Audio with Transport Stream

  Made 3 versions of a show for Web, DVD, and broadcast. The source file in Apple Compressor was ProRes SD. For the broadcast version I was asked for and made an MPEG-2 file, using the transport stream settings.

  When I open it in MPEG Streamclip, I get no audio, even though the stream info says it’s there (listed as MP2 Stereo).

  The other 2 versions are fine.

  I looked through the user manual and thought I understood the MPEG-2 section, but clearly I don’t.

  Any help in clarifying this would be most appreciated.

  Test playback with VLC.

  For Broadcast it would be Program or Transport Stream. Just making sure you’re not looking at the MPEG2 for DVD which would have no audio.

  So both audio and video played fine in VLC.

  Not sure what to make of MPEG Streamclip’s problem with the file.

  And yes, I did double check to verify that I had opened the m2t.

  Since MPEGStreamclip may be using the Quicktime library I’d guess Quicktime can’t play it either.

  If you believe you used the same settings for your other MPEG2 files you can double check by opening the files in the free MediaInfo and double check the audio codec and other metadata.
