I would just google someting like “Digital video explained”.

I do not know of any sites off-hand, but I am sure that this would help. you may also want to post this on the Broadcast Video forum.

the FCP manual includes some of the better and easier to understand information on the mechanics of video I’ve ever seen and I’ve been reading video books for 40 years.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

There is a Peachpit book called “The Little Digital Video Book” by Michael Rubin that covers all the basics and fundamentals of digital video.

It would make a great primer for video newbyphiles.
