Activity Forums Compression Techniques 24 bit audio from Compressor

I need to create files from DVC Pro HD to Pro Res for the Ki Pro and was asked to set the audio to 24bit 48K. Typically the output from FC is 16bit 48k. (I know that I can set it up in FC for 24 bit, but the videos have already been mastered) Is there a way to change the bit rate in Compressor (better or best settings)?

As always, thanks for you attention.

    Cheers,

    Jim

THe problem is that in using compressor (only) you’ll end up squashing the video again.

I was going to suggest using the ProRes preset – changing the audio from Pass-through to Enabled and then switching the audio to 24 bit.

Unfortunately, compressor doesn’t allow pass through of video. Fine, no big deal.

Send the video to compressor – choose the AIFF 48:24 setting.

    Bring this back to FCP.

In a new sequence, either nest or copy the video tracks (ONLY)
Then lay in the 48:24 audio in FCP – make sure you change the timeline settings to match this.
