  Compressing

  Hi, all.

  I need to compress some short documentaries for YouTube. They were shot with a Panasonic HDX900 camera shooting 720 60 in HD mode. The footage was captured into FCP 7 in full resolution as DVCPRO HD (720p60) at 59.94 fps. I edited it uncompressed.

  To compress for YouTube, which video frame rate should I use: 59.94, 29.97, or 30? The YouTube Help page says to use 30 but I don’t know if that applies to my video. Which video frame rate will look better, move more smoothly–less jerking etc– and be in synch?

  For audio, which rate do I use 44 kHz or 48 kHz? I think 48 because that is the audio rate listed in my clip info.

  The size of my file for 3 minutes of compressed High Def video with a video frame rate of 59.94 is 432 mb.

  Megan,

  The first question is how long is the documentary? Is it just 3 minutes? YouTube has a 15 minute duration max.

  I’d encode the video with H.264.
