I’m trying to compress a video to MPEG2 using Program Steam in Apple Compressor. The video is coming from a standard NTSC sequence in FCP.

I have 10 seconds of bars and tones, followed by 5 seconds of slate, followed by a 5 second countown/ 2 pop, then 2 seconds of black before a 30 second spot.

My two issues are that Compressor is giving me files that have no tone for the first two seconds, followed by a beep, one second of silence, another beep, another second of silence, and then finally the tone kicks in.

Then instead of my slate coming in at 10 seconds, the bars stay on until the countdown begins at 15 seconds (meaning no slate at all).

My final cut sequence plays correctly, and if I export a file from Final Cut, that file plays correctly. It’s only when compressing to MPEG2, (using Program Stream) that I have these issues.

This happens whether I export straight to Compressor, or export a Quicktime file using my sequence settings (DV/DVCPRO – NTSC) and then drag that into Compressor.

Can someone please enlighten me as to why this is happening, and also how to fix it? As a test, I compressed my Quicktime export as an MPEG2 using Adobe Encoder and it came out perfectly. I just want to know what the issue is with Compressor so that I know how to fix it in the future.

    Thanks.

Sorry, I don’t have a clue what’s going on there.
