Any thoughts on how to get good results from Procoder 3 for mp4 compression would be appreciated.

I’m compressing short clips to 1/4 PAL resolution / widescreen, so 512×288 with square pixels. At present I have chosen file format mp4(ISMA), video format MPEG-4 Improved, 600 kbps data rate, 25 fps (as source), key frame every 200 frames, streaming enabled, max packet size 1450 / packet duration 100. Audio encoding AAC-LC 44.1Khz mono. The results seem OK for the data rate in local playback via QT player; do these settings look OK for use in FLash player online ..?

Your settings are fine, but it depends on your audience and their connection speeds.
