I’ve got a PC running Vista. When I try to play a QT video from someone’s site, it won’t play, I just get a black screen. If I click on the “download” option, the wheel starts spinning as though it’s going to download, but it spins endlessly. Anyone have any idea what I need to do? Thank you.

It could be the codec. It could be bad web programing.

Uh, post the link so we can look at it maybe.

Craig, thanks for the quick response. I know it’s a problem with the computer because all of the other computers in my office play QT fine. Oh and I made a mistake, this is PC that runs XP, not Vista. Any other thoughts?

Update Quicktime and make it the default for playing Quicktime based files. We had a client with this same problem today. They updated Quicktime (from 7.5 to whatever the current version is) and it fixed the problem.

Just last week they could play Quicktime’s fine with the 7.5 version…so who knows what happened.

As Craig said, it could also be a file using an exotic codec that’s not native to the Quicktime install, a corrupt movie file or indeed crappy programming on the site.
