  How to Choose Compression Settings

  Hi, I’m very new to working with video and have a project due to send to a client.

  Its a 12 min video created in AE with minimal animation. Up until last week, we worked off of a PC and exported to WMV, which always worked fine. We just switched to Mac and do not know the optimal compression settings. We tried to export to mpg-4 but that only compressed it to 500mb and we need to get it down to 100MB. In addition, the text in the video became illegible.

  If anyone has any guidance on the best way to dramatically compress files on a Mac while preserving quality so that its presentable enough to send to a client that would be amazing. We work with AE and final cut but are new to both programs. (just got Final Cut yesterday).

  It’s not about the whether it’s Mac or Windows, it’s about what tools you have available to compress video well.

  Neither FCP or AE are going to do a good job for you.

  I assume you have compressor as well??

  Start with one of the supplied compressor presets and see how you get on.

  BTW compressor won’t do WMV.
