  Sorenson 5.1 Crashing

  Win XP Pro, SP2, Nvidia FX3500, 8gig RAM, HP XW8400 workstation.

  We just upgraded our edit system to Avid Nitris. Along with that software, they bundled Sorenson Squeeze 5.1. So, you would think it would be compatible. Well after installing 5.1, it opens fine, but when I import a movie, the interface flases to white, then crashes saying it has experienced a problem and has to shut down.

  I am using QT 7.4.5 and I had no issues during installation of Squeeze. I disabled Direct Draw in QT thinking maybe there was a conflict but no change.

  Our first project with the new Avid is 6 hours of video going to Flash…not gonna happen until I figure this out.

  Any help much appreciated.

  You are not the first in this forum to experience problems with Sorenson (or indeed Windows).

  In most cases a complete uninstall of Avid, Quicktime and Sorenson (including using Regedit where necessary) and fresh reinstall does the trick.
