Anyone have any suggestions for compressing video for youtbe and myspace?

I usually use H.264, but I just finished a video that’s about 5 minutes long and I have to compress it a lot to get it within the 100MB limit. Not only do I have to compress it a lot, but the people who run youtube don’t seem to know how to deal with video since they go on to compress it again on their own and then enlarge the picture from 320×240 to 425×318. They’re dumb, so does anyone have an suggestions until I find time to make my own website?

    Thank you.

I believe YouTube allows 1GB if you use their desktop uploader. They’re still going to mash it severely though.

You might consider Vimeo for best presentation of your efforts

500MB per week. They accept and present up to 720p30 HD and they use On2VP6 Flash to compress which is much better than YouTube which seems to be the old Spark Flash codec.

Exposure Room seems to be another high quality upload site

The ONLY thing YouTube has going for it is high placement in the Google search engine for viral purposes.
