  HD Footage to SD DVD

  I have a DVCPRO HD 720p 60 project in FCP. There are 4 segments I need to compress to be able to fit on an SD DVD that I’m burning in DVD Studio Pro. I of course need the best possible resolution.

  I have exported the 4 clips already in there native formats for my digital masters (of course there freaking huge).

  I own Cleaner and Compressor. I don’t know how to use either or which is better/easier for this process. I’ve tried following the manual on each in the past, but couldn’t figure it out.

  If someone could please advise I would be most greatful. 🙂

  I would duplicate one of the presets then alter it to the following:

  change the GOP to the smallest number (7 i think)

  change the bitrate to single pass VBR with
  a maximum of 7,000 and an average of 6,500

  don’t forget to set the frame rate for 29.97

  for HD to SD, make sure the resize filter is turned
  on and set for Highest quality.

  That will produce a beautiful SD encode of your HD clips.
