  *help* PCI Graphics Card and Compressor 1.0.1

  Good evening,

  I just purchased a second hand G5 and am in the midst of loading all of my programs onto it. The one that is giving me trouble is Compressor. I have a very old version v.1.0.1 and the error message I receive is:

  Configuration error
  This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.

  Adrianne,
  I ran into a similar problem recently when trying to install an older version of compressor on my G5 Power Book. I found the solution on an Apple forum.

  Here is the solution that worked for me:
  In the applications folder right click (control click) on the Compressor application icon.
  Select “Show Package Contents”.
  Open the Contents folder and right click (control click) on Info.plist.
  Open with TextEdit.
  In the code you will see a line that says “AGP” change that to say PCI.
  Close and save the file.
  Compressor show now open without the error message.
  It might be a good idea to create a duplicate of Info.plist to another location as a back up before making changes.

  Thanks, Jack. That worked for a bit — it let me into Compressor long enough to set up a file to submit, but once I did, it gave an error message that says “Unable to connect to background process” .. any thoughts on this one?? Thanks again…
