Can someone tell me what format to use that will allow universal viewing of a video on both Macs and PCs

I originally thought mpeg-4 would be the best choice but I can’t get my .mp4 video to play on a PC. (perhaps special compression settings are required?)

I have both Apple Compressor and Sorensen Squeeze, and my video will reside on a UBS memory stick. All I want is universal “playability” of my video regardless of the computer type or OS.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks!
    W.

Mpeg1 will play just about anywhere.
