    Hey all,

Here is my ordeal: We rendered out several 3d animations in Maya, and I used After Effects to add in text. Unfortunately, when I rendered it all out into an .avi it was about 7gb. This was very suprising considering the video is only about 4 1/2 minutes long and only at 640X480 resolution. What I need help with is selecting the right options within after effects to get the smallest size possible without having to downgrade the resolution, and then also compressing it further with an another program outside of after effects after the fact. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

You could export out to QT from AE using the Pixlet codec. I have found this codec to be very good at retaining color and quality for intermediary sources.
