Strobing on Quicktime Output
I have a composite of single med shots of People in front of a white cyc. I tracked them along at the bottom of the screen like a conveyer belt with keyframes on horizontal positioning. No matter what speed I track them at, they seem to stutter and strobe. When I do a RAM preview they don’t have that problem, but when I render them to quicktime the strobing is distractingly apparent. I’ve tried motion blur and no motion blur and it strobes both ways. Anyone have experience with this and know how to do a workaround?
Footage is Pro Res 1080p 23.98 and is rendered as the same. There is no framerate conversion and everything was recorded and is exported as progressive.

since the preview looks good, there are 2 probable problems…
your comp should be set at 23.976 fps (i know final cut calls it 23.98, but in after effects it need to be the actual frame rate of 24p which is 23.976). so try setting your comp to 23.976 and make sure that the imported media is interpreted as 23.976 (select the footage in the project panel then check the frame rate at the top of the panel, by the thumbnail).
if that’s all good and you still have a problem, then you may have a problem with the rendered file’s data rate being too high for your drive to playout smoothly, or, possibly, your system is having problems decoding the pro res compression (i’m not sure is pro res is available on powerpc, but if you have an older system it could be a problem, any intel mac should be fast enough).
