  Interlacing Question:

  Any clarification w/ this ques. will be greatly appreciated.

  In the old days, when we would do graphics, we would introduce interlacing to 2d animation, text, etc because it would look crisper and easier for older crt’s to display when airing.

  Now, is this still true? do we still need to introduce interlacing when things are going to broadcast with new TV’s and new technology?

  the reason i’m asking is because, let’s say for example: after the spot broadcasts, it’ll then go to powerpoint. Before it encoded for powerpoint, it needs to be deinterlaced thus making the spot not look as good (bluring, interlacing artifacts, etc.). And it NEVER looks as good as it would if we didn’t introduce interlacing in the first place. In a perfect world we would like to not have to render things twice everytime!

  If anybody has any info on this and would like to share i would greatly appreciate it!!
