  QuickTime vs. Windows Media Player (verify pluggins)

  I have compressed a 60-second video to both QuickTime (.mov about 8MBs) and Windows Media Player (.wmv about 10 MBs) – they both play perfectly on the web on MY computer – the problem I’m having is when I create a “Verify Pluggins” webpage to detect wether a web-visitor has QuickTime or Windows Media Player (or both). The Verify Pluggins page should (in theory) direct the visitor to the appropriate web page and then play the web-video using QuickTime or using Media Player. The videos play without a problem on all Macs that I’ve tested, but I’m must be doing something wrong on the PC side because most of the testing I’ve done on various PCs (with various browsers) often wont play in Media Player. I’m obviously new at this and welcome any suggestions or comments. Thanks for your time.
