  • Video quality doesn’t look good when uploaded..

I just compressed a 4 minute video with Compressor. It looks really good and clean. However after I uploaded it to a FREE Hosting site I am using it doesn’t look as good anymore. It almost looks like it went from DVD quality to VHS quality when uploaded and played back. Whats up with that? Do I need to use another Hosting site? I am using http://www.youtube.com right now.

    Thanks!

Doesn’t youtube.com recompress the videos you upload? Hence the change in quality. For $3.95/month + $1.99/year at godaddy you can get your own hosted site that you can fully control and that has all the space and transfer capabilities you could likely want.

Flash is a video format. YouTube take you beautiful looking movie and re-encode to the Flash format. Flash does not need a special player like Quicktime, Windows Media Player or Real.
Obviously recompressing something will reduce it’s quality.

    More info on Flash here:

ok well I uploaded my video to http://www.stickypod.com and it looks 10 times better. Now I have to figure out how to link it other sites that I want to post so other people can see it. I tell you if isnt one thing its the other! LOL!

    Which video was it?

For the quicktimes, you can right-click on the qt symbol and choose, open link in a new window. That will give you the URL. Copy and paste that to let people know where they need to go.
