FLV VBR in Squeeze 4.1 (Mac)
I’m compressing a 2 minute 15 second trailer for a website and they are having me make two FLV files (Large and small.) I have customized the settings per their instructions. As there is no FLV player on the mac, I have to open the files up on my pc and use the free flv player I found on the web just to check the quality. The constant bit rate file plays right away, but the VBR versions of the files seem to take around 10-20 seconds to start up in my player. Is there a bug in Squeeze 4.1 when using a VBR setting for flv files? Or is this just standard for VBR files to take a while to cache? My thought was the VBR 2 pass setting would make a cleaner,smaller file vs. the constant bit rate.
Appreciate any insight into this. And Ben if your reading this, I got your DVD with the latest purchase of squeeze, but have not had time in between editing to watch it 🙂

Haven’t tried this Mac FLV viewer (for local files) yet, but check it out:

also have to change the dimensions of the file in their html page to accommodate your size:

I don’t answer that paritcular question in the tutorial, alas.
I believe what’s happening is that the VBR files cause some kind of analysis buffering in that tool. I don’t think it means anything practical about your file itself – it should work fine.
