  Glowing/Luminous material

  Hi Folks,

  I am trying to achieve an effect as the attached image shows. The “glowing” lines in the middle.
  How is this achieved? Especially the bright, white middle with light blue shine. Do I need Global Illumination for something like that? Trying to avoid GI because of the longer render times regarding animation.

  I usually achieve that in post. A little glow on that object id. If you pay close attention, the reflection of that is not as bright as the lines itself. So I’m guessing that they changed something in post.

  You’ll need to get some light emission in your render for that overall look, so I’m guessing not using GI is not an option.

  in case you do go with global illumination i found that to speed up render it may help to just use QMC rather than IR + QMC.

  And it helps prevent flickering and jitter of the glow… see my post here:
