I made a sweep with a fillet cap and when I put a gradient on the sweep the gradient gets messed up where the cap is. I also made a cylinder with a fillet cap and the gradient looks fine. Even when I make the sweep editable and connect and delete everything it still acts like the cap is separate object. Ive tried adjusting the offset and length, and gradient direction to no avail.

    here is a screen grab

    Hey Chad,
I’ve never noticed that before but you are absolutley right!
I thought putting the sweep in a connect object would fix that but it doesn’t.
I think it means that the UVW’s have to be reordered once you make it editable and use “create single object”

how do I reorder the uvw’s? where is create single object?

In the sweep’s attributes, under caps is “create single object”. This does what you did when you connected everything but is supposed to make one object with unified UVW’s.
I’m still trying to solve this – I feel I’m missing something simple – I’ve just never seen this before but I am getting the same results you are.
The reason I’m still trying is because remapping the UVWs is a pain

In the mean time you could use a cylinder and do a spline wrap (deformers).
That does work. You just have to up the segments the cylinder has.

here’s a link with some suggestions – While everyone in the link seems to be confident this works I couldn’t get it to. But you might have better luck.
