Can’t change text
Posted by Nick Bruzek on September 16, 2017 at 5:12 pmI made this file as a demo for a buddy’s video and it looks great, and the tutorial I used, I believe said the text could be changed out, but whenever I try all I get is the blue background. I know I ‘m probably missing something obvious, but I can’t seem to find the tutorial I was using, and I really liked how they explained it

September 16, 2017 at 6:18 pmThe text is changed in the MoText attributes > Object > Text

Because you have the traffic light for “show in editor” disabled for the MoText object the text will not show until rendered, which is also the case with the blue background object (back 1).

If only the blue background is rendered then perhaps you have also disabled the “render” traffic light for the MoText (which is not the case in your uploaded version). If you change your text to include more letters than the original file you may have to increase the size and count of the cloner array in order to have enough cubes to create the letters, plus you will also need to increase the size of the random effector, or increase its final scale keyframe, so that all the letters will be formed by it.
Hope this helps.

September 16, 2017 at 6:40 pmI’m not usre what the issue is, I’ve turned everything on and made it all visible, I did manage to get it to change text if it was just a few letters, but I’m going for a complete title, it looks to me like anything beyond changing 7 letters results in just the blue background. is it because I’m trying to use more text than was originally in there?

September 16, 2017 at 6:59 pmThe number of letters shouldn’t matter as long as you modify the cloner and effector to take that into account. I am able to change the text and have it all render properly. Upload your modified project and I’ll take a look at it.

September 16, 2017 at 7:04 pmthe text is in a boolean (Boole) with the cloned cubes. The boole is set to Intersect so you will only see text where there is both text and cubes in the same space (intersecting).
Try turning off the Boole (click on the green arrow beside the word, it will turn into a red x) so you can see where the cubes and text are. Change the text to whatever you want, then as Jim said, increase the width and count in the Cloner so there are enough cubes in a wide enough area to cover the text at it’s new size. Then turn the Boole back on. -

September 16, 2017 at 8:01 pmThanks man, worked perfectly!! Though I ended up having to do it over as the adjustments made it hell to render on my poor old computer, so I decided to go smaller to be able to get it done
