OK, this is probably really basic, but it’s been bothering me for years and I’ve never gotten around to figuring out how to fix it, but everything I’ve tried doesn’t make a difference.

I’ve got an egg, made up of different segments, that comes apart in an animation. But when I render it, you can clearly see the ‘join’ lines between the objects. Does anyone know how to get rid of that?

    I’d be ever so grateful!

if the egg parts are still 1 poly thick, place all the parts in a Connect object – as long as the parts are close enough they are joined and smooth. If you gave the parts thickness I don’t know other than it works with a Cloth Surface object for thickness but the edges once they separate are wrong unless the subdivision is up enough — or you could put a whole egg in place in the same place and swap visibility at ‘break up time’.

It’s separate thickened objects. I think I’m going to have to set up a ‘swap’ at the break times.
    Thanks though.
