    Hello Creatives,

    I’m working on a personal project. I modeled a bulb and a high poly temple in cinema4d. I had an imagination in my mind where temple can be placed inside the bulb. I have a lighting setup from Grayscalegoilla, the glass material and subsurface scattering for temple so that looks like a plastic sculpture. When I tried rendering, the temple inside the bulb looks bulgy at the bottom. Please check the link for render test. I tried compositing tag for bulb’s glass. I disabled the ‘seen by refraction’. I also did the same for the temple model. The bulb’s glass looks nice but bulginess of the temple inside the bulb is still same.

    Personally, I think the image looks very nice. I would expect to see some distortion (bulginess) when looking through glass. If you want no distortion you need to set the Refraction to 1.0 in the Transparency channel of your glass material, but then it will be an inaccurate image, though one you may be going for.

    Thank you for your suggestions. I think I will go with the same settings. I tried setting refraction value to 1, but the bulb’s top is rarely visible. Thank you!!!.

    I’m guessing your bulb walls have no thickness (like the real glass would have) they are just one poly thick (which means no thickness) – so the glass material is treating the entire bulb as one solid piece of glass so there is lots of refraction (which does look interesting if not realistic – good temple BTW).
