  Speed Up My Render?

  Are there any tricks of the trade as to speeding up renders using cineware (c4d / AE) render times? I have a 2650 frame video that is taking a good 1.5 days to render in standard draft mode out of AE. No reflections or anything, just ambient occlusion and soft flat materials with one texture for the buildings. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I included a render frame for reference. I’m doing a cardboard cut out type look and I have noise applied to the paper.

  So with experimenting, I got each frame down to 13 seconds instead of a minute. I made all of the shadow soft instead of Area, which is what it was set to. What a difference! Any other hidden secrets that minimize final look but makes a big difference in rendering?

  turning off AO would be something but it depends on how much it’s adding to your image
