  Scrolling JumboTron Format

  Hey all,

  This is a strange question but I figured I’d start in After Effects and work my way out. Our client has a spec sheet for one of those narrow super longer screens that wraps around a sports field. The specs call for 12000x48pixels. After Effects will build this canvas, but it’s frickin’ huge and very hard to work with. Has anyone here done any work with these things and do you have any resources and tips for newbs working in this space. We can’t use final cut on this, so where do we go what do we do?

  You want to contact the stadium and ask to talk to their graphics specialist, the guy who runs the digital signage systems. Then you want to talk to the manufacturer of the device or visit their website. They will have all the advice you need. I doubt you really need to work in a canvas that size. The input for the device will have a sequencer or scalar or its own composition software that converts movies. It will probably have a library of preset animations, too.

  You can research the digital sign industry in google, which should take you immediately to trade organizations. It is a specialized field. we see digital signage posts often and they rarely go anywhere. So please return and let us know how you made out.
