  Rendering – Vray or Mental Ray?

  I am thinking of investing in either Vray or Mentalray in order to improve realism but which to go for? Can someone contrast/compare?
  Is a vray rendered model viewable/useable in Mental ray or raw Cinema? and vice versa? If I buy a model rendered in one or other can I strip off the material and substitute a raw cinema material etc. etc. I rarely do single shots – usually animations so the time taken to render is critical! Using R15 with a dual quad core, nvidea,
  16gb etc.
