Need an AE/FCP color space expert
I’m pulling a bluescreen with material shot on 35mm in AE, the shot & composite has a large degree of dark areas that need to be retained. Final edits will be done in AVID DS (not by me). Here’s the prob…when I key and composite in AE…great, love it, wonderful. When I bring the composited clip into Final Cut to QC the composite, my black levels are being lifted slightly…ie: a little more detail in the darkest areas is showing up. I have tried finding a color profile in AE that closely matches what I’m seeing in FCP, but still no winner….anyone have ideas, I unfortunately don’t have a lot of time for experimenting here, so a solid answer would be great!…oh BTW, this is all 1920×1080 HD, so there is is no full-res/realtime preview for me in AE, hence the QC in FCP.

What are your render settings out of AE?

Thanks for the reply…render setting in AE are
1920×180 Full Res HD,
NONE on the compression (no codec)
I’m not doing any color management from AE, basically just letting AE do a pass through renderideas?

that was so painful to read & it still looked like no one found a solution….I’m not even using the DVCPRO-HD codec that these cats were….I’m completely uncompressed HD…using a NONE codec & still having this problem.too bad Adobe & Apple can’t get this one right…Guess I’ll see how the footage looks in AVID DS, where it gets a final edit.
