hey guys, i am currently attempting to render a car in a scene. I have set up an area light above the car.

When i render it, the shadow appears excellent which is fine in the render view. Infact, every time i render the scene with a plane, the shadow cast by the car is excellent.

However, when i apply a “shadow catcher” to the plane, and render the image to the desktop, the shadow is horrendous. I think the shadow catcher seemed to absorb much of the shadow…

    Any ideas guys?

What do you mean when you say you “apply a shadow catcher”? You’re using the shadow catcher plugin, or….?

Sorry, i thought there was only one interpretation. What i mean is that i am using the “shadow catcher plugin” and that when i apply the shadow catcher “mat” onto the plane, the shadow cast by the car seems to lighten dramatically.
I hope that makes sense now.

Oh, and no GI or AO have been used.

Gotcha. Can’t recreate the problem here, though. Maybe you could post a scene where you just throw a cube in there in place of the car so we can see what’s going on?
