    Hi Everyone!
I’m pretty stumped with this motion sketch. I have a clip of my 4yr old daughter dancing. I’m going to try and link particles to her shoes. I made a small solid and my intention was to play the clip as I use motion sketch to drag the solid around keeping it on top of her feet, then tie the position data to the particale emitter position of the small solid. Every time I hit start capture and select my solid, my clip dosen’t play so I have nothing to drag the solid around to to capture the position data. I tried doing a ram preview first on quarter res, adaptave resolution, open GL. Nothing seems to work to make the clip play! It’s just raw footage at this point with no animations.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks much!

the whole motion sketch thing is very difficult to grasp. Spend some time in the manual for how to make the underlying track play at different speeds and how to you can control the sketching speed.

As long as the shoes are visible as separate objects, I’d use Motion Tracking instead.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Hi guys thanks for the response!
Motion tracker was my original first choice. She’s doing allot of spinning around (too many barbie movies) and it looses track when ever her shoes cross. I guess I could fix up the parts manually where the tracker looses it?
But still, Any idea what the reason would be for the motion sketch problem? It’s weird. The time line indicator goes across after I start the capture but the darn video dosen’t play!

    🙁
I read that. I thought that maybe because of the background check box I could play the time line and draw as it was playing.
Well Ok I can use motion tracker for at least part of it. I’ll just fix up the indivdual key frams where it looses it by hand.

    Thanks for the help though!

How long is the clip? If not too long, you could have had it done by now doing it the old fashioned way of setting your keyframes every second while scrolling through the video and then go back and clean up. Sometimes time looking for a quick answer to a problem such as this wastes time searching the boards… and that time could have been spent using elbow grease and grunt work.

Sorry to bring this back to light again, but I was wondering the same question. I read all other posts but is there a way to play video while motion sketching on a different layer? That’s all and how. I’ll go and read the manual until an answer appears, maybe I’ll receive the revelation.
